YMTDC played host to two great orators today... Dr. Suhas Lele and Dr. Aquil Reshamwala, who visited our facility to attend a scientific session organized as part of Impressionz '09.
Dr. Lele, a well known face in the arena of contemporary esthetic dentisry, is an alumnus of GDC&H, Mumbai. At his clinic in Mahim, 'Smiles Forever', he practices and caters exclusively to the esthetic demands of his patients. He is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Today, Dr. Lele demonstrated a case of a single tooth composite laminate on a live patient, who in fact is one of our very own students, Mr. Harshil Shah, 1st BDS. After a brief orientation, work began at the specially made, demo-section of the Dept. of Prosthodontics, with a live audio - visual feed keeping a captive audience in the auditorium. A very good 2-way communication ensued with regular bouts of Q&A and some handy practical tips from the master himself.
The afternoon session saw Dr. Aquil Reshamwala take the floor to enlighten staff and students on the finer points of occlusion and easy occlusal adjustments. Dr. Reshamwala, a Master of Dental Sciences (AUS.) specializing in prosthetic dentistry lectures regularly on all aspects of fixed prosthodontics at various conferences. The presentation today focused chiefly on the determinants of the stomatognathic system and understanding concepts in occlusion.
The Student Council wishes to thank all our guests and in particular the Dept. of Prosthodontics for all it's help in facilitating this session. Kudos to Dr. Dhananjay Joshi, Dr. R.D.Das, Dr. Sudesh Rege for all their timely guidance.
A special mention for our patient, Harshil Shah & Uday Puranik (Intern) for helping to make it a good show.
An even more special mention for our very own Dr. Das, who today proved to be a master not only of prosthodontics but also of video-shooting! Thank you sir for the extra-professional AV set-up that made it all happen!
